An Interactive Post About Interactive Narratives

Know More: How To Publish, Online Publishing, Podcasting, Web Journalism, Writing Resources 2.0, Writing Resources

While perusing the Online Journalism Blog (a helpful resource run by four web journalists with abbreviated bylines) I discovered a site with lots of potential for us online writers. Interactive Narratives is a collection of image and audio-rich blogs written by some of the most innovative journalists in the business. It was founded by Andrew DeVigal, a San Francisco State University professor who teaches the budding field of web journalism.

DeVigal also taught at The Most Essential Journalism Website in the Whole World, The Poynter Institute, establishing relationships with web journalism superheroes. The line-up of bloggers involved with Interactive Narratives includes web writing luminaries like Mindy McAdams, a University of Florida journalism professor and co-author of The Internet Handbook for Writers, Researchers and Journalists. In addition to original reporting, the site has podcast interviews with web pioneers at websites like POV, helpful pointers helpful pointers to groundbreaking interactive sites like USA Today, and an interview about narrative video with Washington Post producer, Travis Fox.

I've just started to comb through the individual postings, but there's enough material in here to float an entire graduate program in web journalism. Go check out the site, and I'll get cracking on more interviews with some of these web writers.
