Letting My Friends Do All the Work
It's a gloomy day in Manhattan today, and I'm running behind on ThePublishingSpot reading.  In honor of the weekend laziness, I'm Letting My Friends Do All the Work--pointing you to the best of the web publishing news.  First off, my Know More Media buddy, Melonie Murray recently finished a two-part series about helpful resources for freelance writers.  Melonie draws on her retail and editorial experience, pointing out some of the key industry publications that every writer should have, including ThePublishingSpot.

Secondly, I spent some time re-reading this article about ad revenues and publishing by Stephen Bryant at Publish.com.  His column speculates about different models for writers to make money on the Internet.  I don't focus on this issue much, mainly because I don't make any money!  So I'll let this smart guy do it instead...

Finally, it's time to check out R.J. Baker, the winner of the Best Writing Site Name of Week Award.  Seriously, besides a great name, the Confessions of a Starving Mystery Writer blog features some hardboiled writing, a healthy writing community, and most importantly, a slam-bam Blogger profile: "
After chasing the American dream hard for thirty years, I've chucked it all to become a mystery writer. Before you weep for me; I've been a dishwasher, a cook, a pizza-flipper, a wrecker driver, a men's suit salesman, an entreprenuer, a restaurateur, a soldier, an accountant, and an attorney, and a turnaround specialist."

That's all.  Get out of here and enjoy the weekend.  I'll bet it's sunny where you live...

So that's the definition of teamwork, huh, Jason? *grin* Glad that you found the resources for writers useful. I hope your readers do too. I'd like your opinion on my post about Amazon's new network for authors when you have a less gloomy day. Out here in Washington, I started out with a great view of Mt. Rainier...however, we've headed into gloom as well. Happy weekend...I hope!

I think I shall borrow a page (blog entry?) from Jason Boog over at ThePublishingSpot.com and share some news and insight from the KMM crew for your reading pleasure.  First of all, have you met Noelle Wong yet?  To piggyback... [Read More]

Thanks for the link to Publish.com, Jason. I found Stephan's article very interesting. A number of technical authors that I know have not had much success with the ad revenue model on their blogs, including one who wrote the book about Google's AdSense. Personally, I think it's just a matter of tweaking.
