Videogame Journalism
I took a slight editorial detour with my Second Life story yesterday for one really good reason: web-based writers need to pay attention to online worlds, from Halo to Second Life to World of Warcraft.  In January, Second Life reached 100,000 users--up 25,000 from six months earlier.  Internet connections are speeding up.   Someday soon everybody will have to steer around virtual worlds on the Internet, and writers will have to deal with it...

As for how we should write about these things (in rambling first-person pieces or crisp 500-word game reviews) is a whole other question.  Videogame journalism is a wide open field, and scores of great writers are trying to figure out what to do about it.  Over the last few months, I've been following the work of a few good writers: Kieron Gillen's Workblog, the Always Black site, Wagner James Au's New World Notes, and Jane Pinckard's Game Girl Advance.

Go check them out today.  If anybody has any videogame journalists they'd like to add to my required reading list, please write...

Hello everyone

Let me introduce myself. My name is Jeremy Meyer and I am the Publisher and Editor in Chief of GIR Magazine a independent video game trade magazine dedicated to cover the real story behind the 11 billion dollar video game industry.

Why am I posting here? The reason is we are looking for a few talented men and women, who want to write about the behind the scene look and fell of the industry.

GIR Magazine does not publish stories like XYZ Publisher just released XZY Game and a new patch for Counter Strike is available.

We publish profiles on people in the industry, Fiancial reports and the effect events have on the industry.

i.e. The industry speaking about the new rules regarding E3 booth babe ban.

If your interested please contact me at jeremy@gnbureau.com

Notice: GIR Magazine is a freely distributed magazine. So we do not currently pay our writers.

You've probably picked up all the people I mention on my blog if you're following it, but I haven't mentioned Tom Chick for a while. Quartertothree.com is one of the more interesting web communities around, and his Shoot Club series are genuinely brilliant.

Of course, my comrades Rossignol (rossignol.cream.org) and Walker (botherer.cream.org)who I nothing but love and respect for. As they buy me drinks.
