Last night I spent some time last night digging through Joe Dwinell's blog over at the Boston Herald. This innovative managing editor wrote a lengthy post about the murder of Rachel Entwistle and her baby, Lillian--both killed in January. The police arrested her English husband Neil, and he faces a controversial trial this year.

Dwinell created a Entwistle case file, mixing blogger posts and newspaper articles in a supercharged cocktail designed to spur debate between thousands of amateur detectives. In three days, his simple post had generated almost 600 comments. Web writers of any genre should pay attention to Dwinell's innovative blog:

"I am catching trends and that’s compelling me to pluck away on this trusty laptop. You want more facts; you crave all the latest news; your emotions are pulled; your theories challenged; your opinions trashed or praised. Bring it on! I’m cut from the same curious cloth."
