"Writing and politics are my two loves. So of course politics influences my writing, as it's part of my makeup and what comes out on the page is me," wrote Stephen Elliott in our Five Easy Questions interview.

Check out Damian McNicholl's blog for some eloquent posts about literature, gay rights, and an immigrant novelist's unexpected perspective for American culture. His first book is out, and another, set in "the depths of bucolic Pennsylvania," is on the way.

With a site motto from Democratic superhero, Barack Obama, Incertus mixes politics and poetry in readable mix. Writing about political scandals and class issues in American higher education, Amy Letter and Brian Spears have enough material to keep you busy for the rest of the week.
