"I would like to write a graphic novel based on characters from one of my favorite video games. But I have two problems, 1), I'm not published, and 2), if I wrote the graphic novel as a fan fiction one I could get in trouble for it.
So what should I do?"
I suggest all aspiring fan-artists spend some time exploring the videogame section of Fanart Central and the game art section at MediaMiner.org too. The most important thing you can do is seek inspiration and guidance from the fan-art community, where helpful blogs like Comixpedia can help you find readers interested in your new project.
