Next week will be Zine Week over here, studying those home-made, paper-based, small-print-run publications that have been lovingly produced by generations of impoverished writers.
We will look at writing communities that began years and years before anybody dreamed of publishing on the Internet.
A couple weeks ago, Time Out New York and The New York Times ran great features about zines, and I went straight to the source. Next week, I'll have an zine-tific interview with Jenna Freedman who curates the zine library at Barnard College.
Check out that zine collection for more information...
"We currently hold over 1300 zine issues, in part thanks to large donations of rare and wonderful zines from zinemaker/collectors Lauren Jade Martin and Celia Perez."
