"The new wave of Internet-based 'virtual politics' has given rise to a new model for book publishing. Members of a 'virtual community' - including several published authors and illustrators, plus professional designers and writers - have volunteered to collaborate to produce and electronically publish a book that rivals the output of major publishing houses in the quality of its writing, illustrations and overall design."
I need to spend some time exploring the book, and I'll try to track down the writers too. Initially though, I love an essay anthology forged by a vibrant web community. As the publishing industry flounders, these communities will become invaluable tools for book devolopment.
