Edward Champion recently went toe-to-toe with John Updike, delivering the longest conversation I've ever heard with that great writer. Then, Champion pounds out a smoking parody of Katha Pollitt's New York Times essay. A double-header of good reading...

Pete Lit alerts us to the launch of newly minted blog, The Outfit, the hardboiled set's answer to the Huffington Post. The blog launches with a slam-bam essay by private detective novelist Sara Paretsky, meditating on pulp writers and booze.

I. Love. It. Drink up, and have some pulpy videoblog chaser. If you having any videoblogging suggestions, I'd love to hear from you. It's been a crazy week with that project, and I want to make the next one better.

In the meantime, I'll have a Cutty Sark on the rocks to celebrate the weekend.
