In one of my favorite interviews, I spoke with blogger Steve Huff about how he built his popular Huff's Crime Blog--posting breaking crime news with the help of his dedicated audience.
Huff started writing for The Crime Library, and he recently announced some big changes in his website and hinted about a book. In honor of his success, here's a helpful quote from our crime writing friend...
"I grew up with Uncle Walter Cronkite on the tube every night -- the avuncular voice of authority on the news of the day. I now live in a time when 'angrymom' from who knows where might find a link on the worldwide web that marks the beginning of a major story.
"This is what I love about readers contributing, what I love about using true crime message boards like websleuths.com to determine what stories I might focus on next -- real people are helping to gather real news, unvarnished -- sidestepping the old routes to disseminating information."

In my personal opinion, Steve Huff is a coward and a fraud. Honestly, has he made any decent revelations or has he just had too much time to rant on the internet? What are the odds? If you babble enough, I am sure you will eventually hit upon a theory of whodunnits. Who can't do that? Please name one decent contribution to society by the man. I beg you. I think he left the world of singing because his ego is greater than his talents. Of course, he will probably tell you it is because of his physical ailments. He often hides there. Allegedly he has fathered too many kids and makes no real effort to support or raise them. Who cares how much he can write. Does it really have any depth or is it just a journey into psychosis with Steve driving like a drunk man? You are a writer. Try to really read into the big picture, not just the cover.
