David Wellington is one of the original heroes of web publishing. He serialized his novel Monster Island on his blog--a fast-reading adventure set in New York City after a zombie infestation--earning legions of fans and a print book deal.

Yesterday, Wellington returned with a new serialized novel that sends a young woman tumbling through an arctic wasteland. It's a primer in action-packed, web-tuned prose style, and we should all be paying attention.

Just listen to the academic blogger arclyte, one of Wellington's many readers who are overjoyed about this new serialized novel:

"Oh, what is that undefined feeling in the pit of my stomach? Is it because I haven't had my breakfast yet? Nope, it's that yearning feeling I get every time I get to the end of another of Mr. Wellington's chapters... Like the zombies on Monster Island, we claw at your brain for more."
