Be warned: As we jump into our Richard Grayson interview and discuss print-on-demand publishing, I'll flash the occasional vacation thumbnail photo like some annoying friend with a fully-loaded slide projector.
In between vacation pictures, I also wanted to say hello and thank you to a couple bloggers who sent some encouragement last week. They provided some solid answers to the question that all fledgling writers, myself included, face every day: "Should we give up?"
"There are a lot of stories that can't be told because most of us bloggers are doing this on the side. That's the quandary about being a 'citizen journalist.' By it's very definition, we aren't getting paid to do it, so we can't spend as much time on it as the MSM."
Then, the masked blogger named Mr. Angry weighed in with a pep talk for all the fledgling writers out there:
"Don't give up. This is an attempt to do something new. So you get some resistance, are you surprised. Follow through and it will either work or it won't and hopefully you'll learn something either way. Nothing will change if you get put off by the naysayers."

I'm glad you found my word encouraging. Now get the hell out there and do it. If you go in with the right attitude the worst that can happen is you'll learn something because things didn't go as you expected/hoped. While I think we all occasionally struggle with the idea of giving up that's all downside. Screw the naysayers and go for the upside!
