Following our flash fiction discussion last week, dedicated reader Stephen Berg told us to check out Bob Thurber, "the king of flash fiction." So I did, finding the most hardboiled author page I've ever seen.
Dig it:
"At one time or another I’ve been called The Sam Peckinpah of flash fiction, 'A world-class minimalist,' and 'As ruthless an emotional terrorist as Picasso ever was.' Comparisons have also been made to a number of well-known dead authors, which, at my age, certainly gives me something to think about."
Myself, I think every webby writer should at least understand flash fiction, if only because it's the ideal genre to publish digitally, and Bob Thurber's work is a great place to start.
Sample this pitch-perfect short short story called "Unnecessary Impressions", it made my head spin...

Can't get these Thurber links to work, but I did find a few of his short stories online by googling "bob thurber" A very nice one at http://www.nighttrainmagazine.com/pdfs/thurber.pdf if you're interested.
