Steve Bryant is a journalist dedicated to web publishing, and his Ziff Davis blog is full of insider-baseball and smart links. Last week, he had Sean Carton post on the state of blogosphere. The essay concluded with some important advice for fledgling writers...

"Most bloggers are niche players are will probably remain that way, especially if you consider the theory of networks as outlined in Albert-Laszio Barabasi's excellent book Linked: The New Science of Networks that describes how big players stay big and small players have to work extra hard to keep up.

"What this means for all of us who publish on the Web is that as the blogosphere grows it's also coalescing. As the big players cement their standings, having an impact by starting from scratch is going to be tougher and making money even harder."

Author's Note: I'm on vacation this week. I was too swamped to line up guest writers to cover the blog while I was gone. So, I decided to steer you to a different superhero from my blogroll everyday--featuring the work of my favorite web writing writers. I'm imagining what these people would write if they were guest posting...
