In one of the strangest media events I have ever witnessed--and I've endured Gwar concerts and the 2004 Republican National Convention--I just watched this video of much-mocked horror director Uwe Boll pounding a movie critic.

Anybody interested in going a few rounds with me? Bring it on!

I would not have believed it, unless Nick Mamatas hadn't tipped me off to this Canada.com article about why this director was boxing his critics in the first place.

Maybe Edward Champion should start training in case a Time magazine critic calls...

"The jovial director challenged his detractors - most of whom ripped his movies to shreds in online reviews - to take a swing at him in the ring. Five people were selected ... One by one, Boll knocked out his opponents in the boxing ring amid a glitzy, rock 'n' roll spectacle with loud German techno, heavy metal and hundreds of screaming Boll fans."

I can't believe the fool thought that Uwe Boll would train him personally and was surprised when he backed out. If it were me, I would have trained like mad to ensure that I could beat the tar out of Boll. Or at least come close.

I think the scariest part was "hundreds of screaming Boll fans." You would have never escaped alive, even if you did win...
