Last night, I took my own advice and met some of the best political bloggers in my community at a Democratic Leaders of the 21st Century discussion. They had plenty of advice for political writers, and I've included my favorite comments in this digest of citizen journalism in New York.
"I worked as a freelance journalist for a few years, and I hated it." said Liza Sabater last night. She broke off from that career, diving into the world of digital activism at The Daily Gotham.
"We're giving people a say in a system that's not interested in your input, said Gur Tsbar, a former city hall staffer who founded a community of bloggers under the roof of Room Eight blog.
He noted that all the bloggers are all outside the web of political relationships in the city, and it gave them a unique power: "I'm fearless, because I have nothing to gain," he said.
