My friend Ryan Hudson just pounded out an essay about the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, my all-time favorite writing band. I don't care if I'm depressed, blocked or dead, the record Orange compels me to write. Everytime.
I want to start a list of good writing music. Chip in. Who do you listen to when you write? Think of the writing careers we can save by sharing music. If you need inspiration, here's Ryan's take on the whole thing:
"BAM! BAM! Followed by those taught strings, just hanging there, wavering, then Judah Bauer's leads came in, and then Spencer starts doing his slow-mo, Jerry Lee Lewis on Presley-strength meds. . . And with only the first minute of "Bellbottoms," I knew I'd stepped over and through a threshold. I uttered some foul-mouthed expression of awe and she told me the song wasn't even a quarter over."

It's been loads of KEANE - and Within Temptation at night, especially if you're writing literary fiction.
