Heather O'Neill:
My agent sent the book to Courtney Hodell who was unbelievably encouraging.
She called me up and compared the book to Fellini's La Strada. She really got the book and didn't think of it in terms of genre. I was lucky in that respect.
I think luck plays a part in publishing in that you have to pray that the right person opens your book, because it can fall into all the wrong hands for a long time.
