I'm always working to create more real-world writing community through this blog.
You can sit in your room writing every day for the rest of your life, but without a solid community you'll miss out on the best perks of the writing life--friendships with wonderful writers, editing advice from professionals, and a support network to carry you through the tough times.
With the help of a couple friends, we are staging another open storytelling reading in New York City. I would love to see some of The Publishing Spot's readers on the list.
"The Antagonist Art Movement presents the Fahrenheit reading on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Black & White bar. You get five minutes on the microphone to tell your story. The reading will feature special guest readers from the pages of Smith Magazine, including Anna Lappe, Mary Elizabeth Williams, and the dominatrix diarist, Mistress Y. The show begins around 9:00 at Black & White, located at 86 10th Street, New York, New York (between 3rd and 4th Avenues)."

Can't make that date, but I'd love to read with you at another one.
