You could write the Great American Novel, publish the whole thing on a blog for free, and never find a reader. You are one blog in a practically infinite sea of content on the Internet.
The folks over at Gothamberg have created a new way of thinking about linking stories. Their site focuses on tales of apartment-living, but the organizational mechanism is fascinating.
Writers can easily create links between related themes, authors, or even locations--and the program renders these relationships visually. Instead of sorting through an endless list of Google hits, you can actually see how your story relates to someone else.
"Apartment buildings are full of complex connections between characters and places. If you type a word in CAPITALS, that word looks for another story to link to. Or, if you wish to connect your story to another, look for words in capitals to link to. For example, if a story uses a name like SMELLYMAN, then write your story with the same name in capitals...If you tell your story then you can come back later to see what new tales have been added to it."
