Mur Lafferty:
Frankly? I was a stay-at-home mom with a husband who worked. I didn't make anything close to a salary during that time. Also, currently, I dropped much of my freelance so I could focus on my day job.
Still there is a good bit of juggling done, with working nights, or getting up early on some days.
And when it comes to finding editors, it's networking and presentation. Any chance you have to meet someone, do it. You never know when someone - another writer, an editor, etc - can help you out.
