Science fiction writers are the first-responders of the web-based literary world.
Long before any other genre discussed the Internet, computer culture, or any of the reality-changing digital shifts in our lives, science fiction authors were already exploring these ideas in novels. So it's only natural that they would have the best and most fully developed web footprint out of any other kind of writer.
Over the weekend I surfed the brilliant "science fiction writers who blog" list at SF Signal. It's a virtual primer on how to build web community and create a better blog for your writing. Go check it out:
"S. Andrew Swann has created a Yahoo Pipe for all of these author feeds ... We will only be adding authors published my major publishers. Sorry, but the list is hard enough to maintain without considering all the unpublished and self-published authors, too."
If you want more sci-fi goodness, The Los Angeles Times Books section just hired Ed Park, (the Believer editor and Philip K. Dick fan) to write will a science fiction column. On top of that, Clarkesworld Magazine is accepting submissions next fall. They pay ten cents a word, and you'll be published alongside some of the biggest names in the science fiction writing world. It's worth it.
