Romenesko links to a fabulous vision of the future of newspapers from slightly stogy conference about what newspapers will look like in 2020. Like Romenesko, I'm most excited about Moritz Wuttke's (CEO of APAC Publicitas in China) vision:

I love HBO's crime show, The Wire--it's a virtual primer for suspenseful, novel-esque television. Next season is set in a newsroom, which makes me even happier. Two writing lessons for the price of one: The Huffington Post both celebrates a LONG New Yorker feature about the series, and bemoans the spoilers contained in said profile.
In one of her always-practical interviews, the Urban Muse discusses writing for well-paying glossy magazines with author and journalist Kristin Harmel. Prepare to take notes as you check it out:
"I also think that having done so many interviews also helps me to understand the cadence of people’s speech patterns, which I think helps me to write better dialogue."
