"JB EWING: You’ll never get away with this you know. There are too many people here at the Castor Oil Barons’ Ball.
FANNIE RAE EWING: Oh, I think I will.
JB EWING: No you won’t.
FANNIE RAE EWING: Will.
JB: Won’t.
FANNIE RAE EWING: Will.
JB: Won’t
FANNIE RAE EWING: 'Will'…times infinity plus one."
If that script excerpt makes you laugh, cry or shout, "I love 1980's television!"-- then I've got a writing-themed web video contest for you.
Our old friend Josh Kilmer-Purcell has a new novel coming out (Candy Everybody Wants (P.S.)) about a bad scriptwriter who creates a television show called Dallasty--and that's a fragment of his imaginary script.
Here's the contest (Please note that first prize is one summer's worth of free books): "Your task is to film yourself on your computer camera (or video camera) PLAYING EVERY ROLE YOURSELF. I will then take the best entries and edit them together to make the complete ’Lost Episode.’ ... You just have to be UBER-DRAMATIC."
If you're looking for a little comic inspiration, check out Kilmer-Purcell's Five Easy Questions interview. We discussed How To Defend Your Memoir
and How To Build an Online Community
and How To Stay Current on the Writing Business
and most importantly, How To Build Better Public Readings for Your Book.
